Dutch eAuction‘s Smartsettle-powered inaugural online auction debuted on July 17th, 2015 and will continue every Friday. This auction has a top-down process that produces better outcomes for everyone.
Funds raised for Nepal are being sent through Habitat for Humanity to Asal Chhimekee Nepal, a Nepali NGO that is urgently providing aid to remote villages. The approaching monsoon season threatens to worsen the plight of millions of people in Nepal made homeless by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on April 25. Motor vehicle dealers are sponsoring this event by listing their used cars and trucks and donating $250 for every vehicle sold. All dealerships in the BC Lower Mainland are invited to join.
Sellers started listing their vehicles on July 6 and the site is now open for buyers to search for their dream car or truck among hundreds of pre-owned vehicles. Secret bids must be placed before the auction ends at 6 pm Vancouver time each Friday. At the end of the auction the system runs for a few minutes in order to find optimal matches among all the buyers and sellers. Buyers may purchase only one vehicle each.
NOTE: The organizers are planning similar events in other cities in order to raise even more money for Nepal. The need is immense.
