The Smartsettle process for family conflict resolution usually involves a combination of face-to-face sessions interspersed with online sessions. If parties are separated by long distances and face-to-face sessions are impractical, Smartsettle can handle the entire process online. Face-to-face sessions are currently offered thoughout BC and certain other areas, depending on the availability of a certified Smartsettle facilitator. If legal documents are required, our preference is to work with lawyers certified in the jurisdiction where the agreement would be enforced.

You do not need to buy any software or know anything about Smartsettle. Your certified Smartsettle facilitator will professionally guide you through the entire process. Before coming to your first session you will be asked to review the process guidelines and be ready to sign the Faciliation & Mediation Agreement.

There is a subsidy available for cases involving many complex issues (e.g. both financial and custody/access) if parties are willing to participate in a research program. Not all applicants will be accepted. To participate in the research program, you must also agree to complete a post-negotiation questionnaire that will elicit your satisfaction with the process and to allow us to use your anonymous compliments for promotional purposes.
