A numerical variable is one in which the bargaining range is defined in terms of a numbered scale rather than with named options. Negotiation issues represented by numerical variables always involve decisions on measurable quantities with certain units, e.g., the purchase price of a car in dollars or the height of a dam in meters (see also quantitative variable).
